Ozarks Professionals Spotlight | Kelly Smith and Sativa Boatman-Sloan [intro music] >> ANNOUNCER: Highlighting businesses and services in the Ozarks. Welcome to Ozark Professionals. >> KELLY SMITH: Today, we are at the Law Office of Sativa Boatman-Sloan. It’s always great to see you. >> SATIVA BOATMAN-SLOAN: Good to see you again too. >> KELLY SMITH: You love what you do. I can tell that you do. >> SATIVA BOATMAN-SLOAN: Yes, I do. >> KELLY SMITH: You like to serve people. >> SATIVA BOATMAN-SLOAN: I do. >> KELLY SMITH: And what are some things that you do, specifically in this law practice? >> SATIVA BOATMAN-SLOAN: Well, we try to focus the areas of law on Business Law and Elder Law. We are just doing transactional documents. We are helping people to really stay away from being sued or having to go to court. >> KELLY SMITH: Right. OK. Let’s talk about business law just a little bit. Would this be for up-and-coming businesses? People get into businesses and they don’t know how to take care of the business side of it? >> SATIVA BOATMAN-SLOAN: Correct. We actually can help them form the business entity itself or sometimes we are just redoing some paperwork because it wasn’t done the best when they first formed. >> KELLY SMITH: Yes. >> SATIVA BOATMAN-SLOAN: Or we are helping them do service contracts, agreements, things like that with customers and with other vendors. >> KELLY SMITH: New businesses? Existing businesses? All those kinds of things? >> SATIVA BOATMAN-SLOAN: Yes, absolutely. >> KELLY SMITH: Now, let’s talk about Elder Law a little bit. What does that involve? >> SATIVA BOATMAN-SLOAN: So, Elder Law really is something where you’re planning for avoiding probate. You also can be planning for long-term care disability. You’re really looking at it together and saying globally what am I going to need from disability to passing away. >> KELLY SMITH: Does that include wills and trusts, and that sort of thing too? >> SATIVA BOATMAN-SLOAN: Wills and trusts, and powers of attorney are probably the most popular part of the Elder Law for most people because pretty much everybody needs to consider those types of things. >> KELLY SMITH: Those are things that are happening. Now, is this a family thing that people need to be involved? Everybody needs to be involved in the family? >> SATIVA BOATMAN-SLOAN: Definitely at least one or two key members of the family need to know what’s going on and know where the documents are so they know your wishes are followed. >> KELLY SMITH: Thank you Sativa. Alright, if you think you might need Sativa’s help, give her a call here. She will help you out. I promise. [exit music]
